A view of Saints Peter and Paul cathedral from a canal in Wissembourg, France

Wissembourg is a city in the Alsace region of France. The Benedictine abbey of Saints Peter and Paul was founded in the eighth century; the town grew up around it and several hundred years later became a fortified city. The city is located on the Lauter river and canals run through the older parts of the city.

Wissembourg was one of our stops on our 2007 trip to Germany.
