I started with a couple of the Celosia spicata ‘Flamingo Purple Feather’ in my container pots in 2012. I’m not sure if it was the heat or neglect, but they seemed to thrive beyond my wildest expectations. The green foliage with red veins add color and texture to any arrangement; the purple spike are a bonus, especially since they continue on for the entire summer. This plant seems to be very forgiving and should work for nearly everyone. I’ve heard that the spikes are great for dried arrangements…does anyone know if that is true?
